I only lost 2 hours trying to fix this before getting here Regards, T P.Ner Method 4 helped. Eventually worked out that had to reconstruct the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network" which was missing various keys then carried out a sfc /scannow and then removed Kaspersky AV, finally this seemed to work. I have changed the name using DSL Router configuration page. ;) tom THANKYOU!!!!! Greg I just updated to Win 10 and had this problem.
