I am experiencing the same problem using Puppy 4.3.1 and my Samsung SCX-4100 printer. I would really appreciate any ideas on how to get printing working under 12.1 Reply With Quote 10-Jan-2012,11:44 #2 deano_ferrari View Profile View Forum Posts View Blog Entries View Articles Global Do you have the optional PostScript module fitted to this printer? There have been other episodes where CUPS 1.3.x showed strange behaviours with USB installs. Which brings up another issue. And why a nonexistent file is passed to lp ?

- What a poor piece of code if it can't even report the most basic of errors.
- Or maybe there are some left-over bits of the CUPS 1.3.3 install that are causing the problem.
- Can you post your /etc/cups/printers.conf? (I'm wondering if your queue is not configured correctly, as you mentioned /dev/lp0 and maybe the URI is pointing to /dev/parport0 instead). 2.

If it hadn't been for that, I wouldn't have even screwed up the configuration in printers.conf This hasn't been the case for the past couple of versions AFAIR, and is generally E [11/Jun/2010:23:45:22 -0800] [Job 4] Unable to queue job for destination "MX860"! Also it appears that when I print to the Samsung from the Windows machine that Synology Assist is putting up alerts that the printer is unavailable, but printing still works. Try the following commands Code: /etc/init.d/cups stop rm -rf /var/cups rm -rf /var/spool/cups rm -rf /var/run/cups rm -rf /var/cache/cups rm -rf /var/log/cups /etc/init.d/cups start Then try a print job. Want to know which application is best for the job? I guess that is something to look into.
I've changed the cups config file so that it doesn't remove the print jobs. I can no print to the two printers from the Mac.On a windows 7 machine I again deleted the printer entries as again I think these were the Bonjour broadcast versions. It set up OK and printed but then cups would not open to let me try again...local host could not be found.
